J.T. Belknap, Managing Partner
J.T. is the Managing Partner at 3S Advisory Group, a consulting firm focused on operational improvement and management strategy for manufacturers, distributors, and small businesses.
In addition to his consulting work, J.T. is the founder of DFM Tool Works, a U.S.-based tool manufacturing company known for precision products and American craftsmanship. Both businesses are run from the same site, reflecting his hands-on commitment to building and improving small-scale manufacturing operations.
Before launching DFM and 3S, J.T. served as Vice President and Director of Manufacturing at a niche producer supporting the U.S. Military and international markets. In that role, he led the business through several years of profitability—even during significant defense budget cuts—by driving cost reductions, productivity gains, and smart product diversification.
J.T. began his career at Toyota, working across five plants in the U.S. and Canada. His roles included die casting, machining, supply chain, and, most notably, new model equipment and process introduction. He led major initiatives that delivered millions in sustained cost savings by pairing deep technical knowledge with strong cross-functional collaboration.
He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, where he graduated cum laude, co-won the department’s Excellence Award, and lettered all four years as a varsity football player.
